BBS Day Camp Leaders in Training (LIT)
Camp at a Glance
Our Leaders-In-Training program is tailored to allow middle schoolers to become more familiar with leadership roles at camp and to develop the skills necessary to become our future CITs and Counselors, all while having tons of summer fun!
LITs are supervised at all times, with all LIT programming being led by a Counselor, Specialist Teacher, or a visiting instructor. While we may task LITs with creating fun for other campers, they are never responsible for those campers’ safety and well being as a regular staff member would be. In comparison to the younger campers’ programs, LITs have fewer activity rotations on their schedule, focusing instead on developing leadership skills and completing weekly projects. Some of these projects, such as the weekly newsletter, will be assigned. Other projects will be inspired and developed from one of an LIT’s talents, interests and goals, or a weekly theme activity. Leadership training may include team-building activities, communication skills, first aid and safety training, game theory, and mentor opportunities. LITs also leave campus for a team-building trip one afternoon each week. Past trips have included laser tag, rock climbing, and an Escape Room!
LITs have a leveled swim lesson scheduled every morning, and are assigned to free swim with the Minis or Kinders Monday-Thursday afternoons. Special arrangements should be made ahead of time for LITs who do not wish to swim.
Campers can register for single weeks, or all 7 weeks.
