Big Blue Summer Day Camp Juniors & Seniors
For students entering grades 1 through 5, Big Blue Summer Day Camp offers a lively morning filled with engaging interdisciplinary activities. Campers work to develop their Big Blue Summer Honor C.O.D.E. competencies throughout their summer: Counselors encourage campers to be Curious, Open, Dedicated, and Enthusiastic as they create in our art studios, compete on our athletic fields, explore our nature trails, and work together on STEAM challenges. Open-ended projects encourage campers to use their own strengths to help support a team effort.
Day Camp counselors are trained to help guide communication between campers and support social skill development throughout the summer. Campers travel to activities with at least two counselors and a small cabin group. These small groups allow campers to bond quickly and work together effectively as a team. Our low staff to camper ratios provide your child with the consistent support needed to take risks, take initiative, and feel confident as they challenge themselves to try new things.
The only time when campers are separated from their cabin groups is in the pool: Each Monday, swimmers are sorted by ability into a swim group for the week. Your child will be receive a level-appropriate instructional lesson in a small group of 2-6 swimmers per instructor. Beginners develop safety skills as they acclimate to the water, while more advanced swimmers improve their strokes and dives in our indoor, Olympic-size pool. Our swim staff includes high school and collegiate competitive swimmers and is managed by one of Pingry’s Varsity swim coaches, so even advanced swimmers will find themselves challenged in the water.
Campers can register for single weeks, or all 7 weeks.
