Campfire Basics Jr.
Campers entering grades 2 through 5 have an opportunity to learn introductory campfire safety and cooking techniques with the help of Pingry upper-school science teacher and outdoor enthusiast, Stephanie Mygas. In this abbreviated program, campers will focus on understanding how to create, monitor, and extinguish a campfire with close supervision. Each afternoon, campers will hike to the campsite on our Basking Ridge campus and help Ms. Mygas cook a campfire treat. Opportunities abound for environmental stewardship and teamwork lessons, along with some campsite fun!
What to Pack
Campers will be outdoors in light rain, so please pack a poncho and waterproof shoes, and a water bottle. In case of dangerous weather, environment science activities will be scheduled indoors.
