Intro to Architecture (featuring Alesia Paliwoda ’21)
Course Description
Do you ever wonder what Architects do? Do you ever wonder what you do in an architecture class? Did you ever want to create an architecture project? If you answered yes, to any of these, then Intro to Architecture is for you!
Students will be introduced to the design process by completing hands-on projects such as designing a sculpture or a house, sketching it from different views, and building a model using materials from around the house. Other activities will include speaking to an architect and designing a playground. Students will walk away from the program understanding the design process, knowing what an architect does, and knowing the benefits of studying architecture.

Alesia is a rising senior at Pingry. She took Art Fundamentals, Architecture, Drafting, & Design I, and Architecture, Drafting, & Design II at Pingry. She also completed a design summer program. When she was a rising sophomore she wished she had a program like this to help her decide whether she wanted to take architecture. She hopes this program will help introduce younger students to design and architecture and make them want to pursue it in the future.
