Intro to Engineering (featuring Alesia Paliwoda ’21)
Do you ever wonder what Engineers do? Do you want to get involved in engineering now? Did you ever want to complete an engineering project? If you answered yes, to any of these, then Intro to Engineering is for you!
In this Intro to Engineering program, students will learn about the different fields of engineering including Mechanical, Civil, Industrial and Operations, and Aerospace Engineering. Many hands-on activities will include building a solar race car, a bridge that can hold up a book, and a model tower that can withstand an earthquake simulation. Students will speak with professional engineers, learn about robotics competitions they can compete in now, try to spot the International Space Station, and more. Students will leave the program knowing what an Engineer does, knowing about the different types of engineering fields and what each one entails, and understanding the engineering process. A kit of materials will be provided.
