Mason Gross Percussion Camp (Middle School)
Camp at a Glance
Attendees would focus on percussion training through performance and masterclasses. Percussion ensembles of various sizes would be the central focus of performance. Masterclasses would include orchestral timpani and percussion, Afro-Cuban percussion, Mallet Percussion, and more.
A general breakdown of a day could look like this:
Exercises on snare drum, rhythm training, rudiments, etc.
Masterclass or exploration
Possible masterclasses listed above; explorations would be similar to a masterclass but with more participation: this is to have students expand their skills on instruments that are less used but still relevant to young percussionists.
Percussion ensemble rehearsals
Various sizes of chamber groups will rehearse and perform for each other as well as a culmination performance on the final day of their program.
